Cosmo Sheldrake
I discovered such a beautiful musician and composer and shared him in my weekly newletter, but wanted to share him here too.
The weird and beautiful music of Cosmo Sheldrake sounds like nothing I have ever heard before. But it also sounds like everything that is familiar, the haunting sounds of the ocean, that we have never heard with our own ears, but that connects with us on a level that can't be put into words, is is soothing? is it uncomfortable? does it remind me of being in a womb? yes to all of that and more.
He is is deeply inspired by nature, blending field recordings and samples of wildlife noises with his own musical improvisations to create music that feels profoundly connected to the world around us and in us, his album, wild, Wet, World intrigues me deeply. He used samples from the war for submarines, of under the sea creatures and blended them to create music, but even the word music doesn't sum up what it is, it is a conjuring, a glimpse with the ears into another world.
